Research – Semiotics in advertising.

I decided to look into semiotics in advertising to look how it has been used. I found an advertisement by heinz ketchup using the line ‘no one grows ketchup like heinz’.

‘Semiotic analyses of advertisements are said to reveal cultural norms and values associated with a particular society or group of people. In fact, in order for people to decode signs they must do it within their own sign system (dependent on language, historical context, and culture).’

From researching this I am going to ensure that with my designs I am going to develop typical imagery to be easily recognisable to ‘summer’ as well as in relation to the brand of toy machine.
